Second marriage date for Little Theatre crew
SLEAFORD Little Theatre group will be performing When We Are Married, next month.
They will be performing at the Playhouse, Westgate, Sleaford from Wednesday September 14 to Saturday September 17.
The play was due to be staged earlier in the year, however due to the London West End performances being extended, Sleaford Little Theatre was refused permission to put the play on this Spring.
The ‘show will go on’ thanks largely to relentless letter writing by the Playhouse committee, unashamed grovelling and special permission from the publishers Samuel French Ltd.
The hilarious Yorkshire comedy by J.B. Priestley brings together three couples who are celebrating their silver wedding anniversaries, only to discover that they may not actually be legally married. The comedy unfolds as two of the women realise they may finally be free of their miserable, errant husbands.
SLT previously performed When We Are Married at the Playhouse in 1974 and 1993. The 1974 staging attracted some additional publicity as two of the cast members were engaged to be married while taking part in the play.
Mary and Lionel Rudkin, although not taking part this time around, are still together (and married) after almost 37 years and remain active members of the theatre.
